Making teams in three steps

1. Enter names. One per line or separated by commas. Extra spaces and repeat names get cleaned up automatically.
2. Set the split. Pick a team count (like 4 teams) or a team size (like 6 players per team). Odd totals get balanced so no team is more than one person larger than the rest.
3. Generate and refine. Read the teams, reroll for a new draw, or add rules first. You can pin players together, force rivals apart, and spread captains one per team.

The controls that save you time

Team size mode. A lot of team makers only let you set the number of teams. This one also lets you set players per team, which is what you want when the roster size changes week to week.

Custom team names. Rename teams from the default “Team 1, Team 2” to whatever fits, whether that’s colours, house names, or a running joke. Need ideas? The team name generator spins them out, and there are cool team name lists to browse.

Captains spread evenly. Mark your captains and the tool drops one on each team instead of piling them together.

Keep-together and keep-apart. Lock certain players to the same team, or make sure two of them never share one.

Why the teams are fair

The shuffle behind every draw is Fisher-Yates, a standard method where each possible ordering is equally likely. No player is favoured. After the shuffle, players get dealt one at a time across the teams, which keeps sizes as balanced as the numbers allow.

Any keep-together or keep-apart rules run first, then the rest of the roster fills in at random. If a rule can’t be satisfied, you get a clear warning instead of a broken team sheet. Everything happens in your browser, so your roster never gets uploaded.
